On April 9, a new episode of YouTube channel “JayParkssi” featured Hwasa as a guest in a video titled “The Story of Competing in Cuteness at a Real Favorite Restaurant with a Teto Girl Best Friend (ft. Hwasa).” During the candid conversation, host Jay Park asked whether she had come straight from another schedule.
Hwasa revealed that she had been filming a music video until dawn before heading directly to record Popopo, catching everyone by surprise.
Explaining why she chose to appear on the children’s program, Hwasa said her latest song had a certain emotional connection to its theme. Jay Park responded with disbelief, asking, “Popopo is still on air?”
Hwasa laughed and confirmed that it is, before sharing an unexpected behind-the-scenes story.
“Children’s programs are very difficult these days,” she explained. “When I said I was going on ‘Popopo,’ one of the writers actually cried. I think she was touched that someone recognized how hard children’s programming has become.”

When Jay Park asked whether the difficulty stemmed from fewer people paying attention to such shows, Hwasa agreed, noting that children’s television is facing increasing challenges in today’s entertainment landscape.
The singer also spoke about her newly released single, “So Cute,” which dropped the same day. Hwasa admitted that before releasing the song, she had gone through a creative slump.
“When you do this kind of work for a long time, there are periods where you hit a wall,” she said. “I felt like all of my inner fuel had been used up. I realized it was time for me to sharpen myself again.”
She recalled trying to force inspiration by reading and searching for ideas, until she encountered one phrase that changed her mindset: “Cuteness conquers everything.”
Though she described the saying as childish, Hwasa said it unexpectedly gave her strength.
“Even when things are hard, I try to think in a cuter way like, ‘Okay, let’s go back,’ or if it rains, ‘Let’s just get soaked and run through it,’” she shared. “That mindset is what I poured into this song.”
With her honest reflections and playful philosophy, Hwasa continues to prove why she remains one of K-pop’s most unpredictable and compelling artists.
