BTS officially launched their highly anticipated world tour, “Arirang,” on April 9 at Goyang Stadium, delivering a powerful rain-soaked opening night that marked the group’s long-awaited return as a complete seven-member act.
The concert drew more than 50,000 fans despite cold temperatures and relentless rain, proving once again BTS’s unmatched global appeal. The group is scheduled to perform three consecutive nights in Goyang, with total attendance expected to reach 120,000. Originally, a larger venue at Jamsil had been considered, but ongoing renovations there until 2027 made Goyang the tour’s opening destination.

For many attendees, this concert was especially emotional: it was their first chance to see all seven BTS members perform together live since 2019, following nearly four years of staggered military enlistments and hiatus-related pauses.
One of the biggest highlights of the night was the massive 360-degree central stage, designed to eliminate blind spots and create a fully immersive experience for audiences in every section of the stadium. The members admitted the format was both technically challenging and thrilling, requiring constant engagement with fans from all directions.

Inside the packed stadium, fans sang along passionately to tracks from BTS’s new album Arirang, as well as iconic hits including “I Need U,” “Dynamite,” “Not Today,” “Mic Drop,” and “Butter.” Despite the rain making the stage dangerously slippery, the members maintained high-energy performances throughout the show.
RM lightened the mood by joking that the downpour was so intense, it felt like they were “showering while performing.”

The weather, however, did little to dampen spirits. During one emotional moment, BTS and fans sang together in the rain to “Body to Body,” one of the standout tracks from the new album, creating one of the most memorable scenes of the evening.
Several members also opened up about their preparations for returning to the stage. V revealed he trained harder than ever out of concern that he might lose his performance edge during the hiatus, while Jungkook said he was especially excited about the 360-degree stage concept.
Speaking to fans after the concert, Jungkook shared a heartfelt message: “I loved everything about today, and I was so happy performing in the rain. What worried me most was that our fans had to stand in the rain for so long. I hope no one gets sick, and please get home safely.”

RM took to social media to post a group photo featuring all seven BTS members Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook smiling brightly together. Alongside the image, he wrote the short but meaningful caption: “It took a full six and a half years.”
The phrase quickly drew attention from fans, many interpreting it as a reflection on the long journey BTS took to reunite onstage in this complete form once again.
RM also expressed his gratitude to those who attended the concert, writing, “Thank you sincerely to everyone who came to be with us. We will continue to do our best to show you even better sides of ourselves. Love you.”

The “Arirang” tour is already making history. All 46 currently released shows have sold out, and additional dates in regions such as the Middle East and Japan are reportedly under consideration. With 85 concerts planned across 34 cities, industry observers are calling it the largest concert tour ever mounted by a Korean artist.
Beyond ticket sales, BTS’s impact is being felt across the local economy as well. Hotels near Goyang Stadium were nearly fully booked, and many fans without tickets still traveled to the city simply to be part of the atmosphere. Analysts say the event is another example of “BTS-nomics,” the phenomenon describing the group’s enormous economic and cultural influence worldwide.
The opening night also attracted major celebrity guests, including Jang Won Young, members of TXT, and actor Yeo Jin Goo, further underscoring BTS’s enduring prestige within the Korean entertainment industry.
As BTS embarks on what is already being hailed as a record-breaking global tour, the rain-drenched opening night in Goyang served as more than just the start of a concert series it symbolized the group’s powerful reunion and enduring bond with fans worldwide.
