On January 16, Guri Police Station in Gyeonggi Province announced they would not forward Nana’s case to prosecutors, concluding there was no criminal wrongdoing. The decision came after she was falsely accused by a man in his 30s who had broken into her home with a weapon and was later subdued by Nana and her mother.

The intruder, who was initially arrested and charged with aggravated robbery and injury, had filed a counter-complaint from jail in December 2025, claiming he suffered injuries at the hands of Nana during the incident. In response, police were required to formally open an investigation with Nana as a suspect.

After thoroughly reviewing all statements, surveillance footage, and other evidence, police concluded that Nana’s actions fell squarely under legitimate self-defense. She had acted to protect herself and her family from an immediate threat posed by an armed assailant.

The incident occurred on November 30, 2025, when the intruder broke into Nana’s residence in Guri with a weapon. He reportedly injured Nana’s mother before being physically subdued by both women. During the struggle, the man sustained a facial injury, which later formed the basis of his attempted murder accusation.

In the aftermath of being investigated despite being a victim, Nana opened up about her emotional state. “It was extremely difficult to process everything, especially after hearing I was being accused while going through such a traumatic experience,” she shared. “But I won’t let this break me. I will stay strong, so please don’t worry about me too much.”

Although the case has now been closed, public outrage continues over the injustice of a victim being re-victimized through a false legal complaint. Many have praised Nana’s courage and composure during and after the terrifying ordeal.
