On January 15, Netflix Korea uploaded a video titled “Rom-coms Work Best With This Combo. Just Seeing Seon Ho & Youn Jung Is Fun | Can This Love Be Translated? | Here to Promote, Yes | Netflix” on its official YouTube channel. Kim Seon Ho and Go Youn Jung, stars of Netflix’s upcoming drama Can This Love Be Translated?, appeared as guests alongside Yoo Byung Jae and Jonathan.
During the conversation, Yoo Byung Jae mentioned the mysterious poster of Chung-seop (played by Kim Seon Ho) in When Life Gives You Tangerines, noting that even production staff refused to reveal who the character was. Kim Seon Ho confirmed the secrecy, explaining that the director deliberately excluded Chung-seop’s photos from group albums to avoid spoilers.

When Yoo added that he still couldn’t recognize Kim Seon Ho during the early scenes despite suspecting it might be him the actor revealed just how extreme the transformation was. “Each makeup session took about four hours,” Kim explained. “Every strand of hair was individually attached. It wasn’t a wig at all. So honestly, I was happy people couldn’t recognize me it meant all that effort paid off.”

Jonathan also brought up a memorable scene in which Chung-seop tries to win approval for marriage using exaggerated charm, reportedly filled with improvisation. Kim Seon Ho shared that the director only gave him a basic movement guideline, leaving the motivation and details entirely up to the actor. “It was a race against time,” he said. “I thought getting closer to the father-in-law and smiling would work, then I even considered tripping on purpose just to fill the moment.”
He added that IU’s delivery of the line “Mother” in an earlier take left a strong impression on him, prompting him to immediately mirror that emotional timing with his own line, “Father,” in the next scene.

Another highlight was the viral “Smile Challenge,” which Yoo Byung Jae mentioned during the show. Kim explained that there was a playful scene where Chung-seop pretends to be shot during his wedding to Geum-myeong (played by IU). “It was meant as a joke. We didn’t film it much, and everyone laughed it off but thankfully, people turned it into the Smile Challenge and shared it everywhere.”
The biggest surprise came when Kim Seon Ho revealed that Ariana Grande herself shared a clip featuring him on her personal SNS. “She said thank you for making her song trend again,” he said, sparking amazement on set.
