Actor Kim Young-dae has once again addressed the dating rumors involving Kim Yoo-jung and Kim Do-hoon, which resurfaced during promotions for TVING’s new series Dear X.
The drama follows Baek Ah-jin (played by Kim Yoo-jung), a top star who hides a ruthless nature behind her angelic appearance, and Yoon Joon-seo (played by Kim Young-dae), a man who chooses to enter her personal hell in order to protect her. Described as a “ruinous melodrama suspense,” the series explores obsession, desire, and downfall.
During the interview, Kim Young-dae was asked about the dating rumors that surfaced last September involving Kim Yoo-jung and her co-star Kim Do-hoon. The speculation began when a witness claimed to have seen the pair together at an airport in Vietnam, followed by both posting photos from Nha Trang on social media. The incident quickly led to dating speculation but was ultimately dismissed as a misunderstanding.
Kim Young-dae recalled the incident with a laugh: “Honestly, I was relieved it wasn’t about me. I had no idea what was going on at the time.”
He explained that all three actors were close even before filming began: “Yoo-jung and Do-hoon were already very close, and the three of us often hung out together before the shoot. I really wanted to travel with them too, but I couldn’t because I was preparing for my military enlistment.”
He added that the misunderstanding was understandable: “I kept asking them to send a lot of photos, so I was watching everything in our group chat. Do-hoon was carrying her luggage and acting super gentle — anyone who saw that would misunderstand. We all laughed so hard about it back then.”
With Dear X gaining attention for its intense chemistry and dark emotional themes, Kim Young-dae’s candid remarks offered a light-hearted moment while clearing the air once more about the widely discussed rumor.
