Malaysian singer-rapper Namewee, already at the center of one of the biggest scandals in Malaysia’s showbiz this year, has been hit with new accusations this time for allegedly sending inappropriate late-night messages to a popular online influencer with over 600,000 followers.
According to Mirror (Taiwan), the influencer revealed that Namewee persistently messaged her at night, using the excuse of “casting for a music video” to approach her. Screenshots she shared with Taiwanese media show Namewee texting her at 2 a.m., writing, “You stay up late often, right?”

When the influencer casually replied that she was a “night owl,” Namewee allegedly escalated by asking, “Can I come over for a late-night meal? I’m also a night owl. I can go to your place and we can eat together.”
Frightened, she rejected him and reported the incident to her management.
Despite the allegations, Namewee has not directly addressed the claims. However, shortly after the controversy erupted, he released a new song titled “Misunderstanding, Just a Misunderstanding”, which many believe is his indirect attempt to deny wrongdoing.
Blacklisted From Showbiz Amid Criminal Charges
Namewee’s reputation has collapsed dramatically. After being detained in early November on suspicion of drug possession and possible involvement in the mysterious bathtub death of Taiwanese model Charlene Chia, entertainment industries across Malaysia and Taiwan removed him from all activities.

TV stations have pulled programs featuring him, and organizers of more than a dozen events including major 2026 New Year’s countdown concerts canceled his performances. Due to contractual terms requiring payment only after shows, no organizers have demanded compensation from him yet.
Details of the Death of Xie Youxin
Xie Youxin, 31, was found dead in a hotel bathtub on October 22 in Malaysia. On November 2, the case took a shocking turn when police arrested Namewee on suspicion of involvement.
During interrogation, Namewee denied using drugs or engaging in sexual relations with Xie Youxin on the day she died. He claimed they met to discuss a music video collaboration, after which Xie Youxin went to shower. When she did not respond after 30 minutes, he said he checked the bathroom and found her unconscious. He said he performed CPR and called emergency services but the ambulance allegedly arrived an hour later, by which time she had already passed away.

He insisted that the suspicious substances found at the scene were not his and that he did not know their origin. However, police described his statements as inconsistent and evasive. Hotel CCTV reportedly confirmed that Namewee and Xie Youxin spent the night together and that no one else entered or exited their room.
A Controversial Figure
Born Wee Meng Chee in 1983, Namewee is known as a rapper, filmmaker, and actor. His satirical, provocative style has long sparked controversy in Malaysia. He also faced backlash in the past for releasing a song that K-pop fans claimed insulted BLACKPINK.

As investigations continue, Namewee remains one of the most polarizing figures in Asian entertainment and the accusations keep growing.
