The shocking death of Taiwanese model Xie Youxin and the arrest of Malaysian rapper Namewee (Wee Meng Chee) has gripped the entertainment industries in both Malaysia and Taiwan (China). Authorities have now escalated the investigation, making Namewee the prime suspect in the case.

On November 4, Kuala Lumpur Police Chief confirmed that the case is now being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code — which pertains to murder. If convicted, Namewee could face the death penalty or imprisonment for 30–40 years, along with a minimum of 12 strokes of the cane. The 41-year-old rapper was initially detained but later released on bail of 8,000 ringgit. However, following new developments, police issued a warrant for his re-arrest — only to find that Namewee had vanished. Immigration records show that he has not left Malaysia, suggesting that he is currently in hiding within the country.
Police and media have repeatedly tried to contact him and his manager, but their phones have been switched off. Even Namewee’s father, Mr. Huang, told reporters that he has not seen his son for two months and only received a call two days ago, during which Namewee said he was safe and urged his father to “wait for the police investigation results.”
Model Xie Youxin was found dead in a hotel bathtub in Malaysia on October 22, aged 31. On November 2, police detained Namewee on suspicion of involvement. Authorities reportedly found nine blue pills suspected to be narcotics on him at the scene.

According to Malaysian outlet Guang Ming Daily, the rapper was wearing a white T-shirt, cap, and glasses when arrested while trying to leave a five-star Kuala Lumpur hotel.
Namewee denied any drug use or sexual relations with the late model. He told police that the two met to discuss a music video collaboration, after which Xie Youxin went to take a bath and failed to return after 30 minutes. Namewee said he broke into the bathroom, found her unconscious, and performed CPR before calling emergency services. He claimed it took an hour for the ambulance to arrive, by which time Xie had died.
However, police reportedly found inconsistencies in his statement, describing it as evasive and possibly fabricated. CCTV footage showed that Namewee and Xie stayed together in the hotel room overnight, with no one else entering or leaving during that time.
During questioning, police discovered drugs and sexual stimulants in the room. Preliminary urine tests revealed that Namewee tested positive for four drugs — amphetamine, methamphetamine, ketamine, and THC.

Deputy Police Chief of Jinma District, Sazari, stated that the exact cause of death is still under forensic review. Police have not ruled out the possibility that Xie’s body was moved from the bed to the bathroom after her death.
Meanwhile, Xie’s family requested to bring her body back to Taiwan for an independent autopsy. Malaysian police denied the request, citing the ongoing investigation and the need to preserve evidence. They explained that embalming the body would destroy critical forensic traces essential for determining the cause of death.
Namewee, born in 1983, is a Malaysian rapper, filmmaker, and actor known for his satirical works that often touch on political and cultural taboos. Despite his musical success, he has frequently been embroiled in controversies, including past accusations of mocking BLACKPINK in one of his songs.
Xie Youxin, on the other hand, was a rising social media star with over 530,000 followers. Before modeling, she worked as a nurse — a background that earned her the affectionate nickname “Goddess Nurse.”
