EXO’s Chen, Baekhyun, and Xiumin collectively known as CBX have reportedly lost six consecutive legal cases against SM Entertainment in their ongoing contract dispute. Despite filing complaints with the police, prosecutors, the Fair Trade Commission, and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, all claims have been consistently dismissed.

According to LawTimes, the courts concluded that “there is no evidence of any illegal or deceptive actions by SM Entertainment.” Repeated rulings have cited a lack of specific evidence supporting CBX’s allegations, making it difficult for the trio to advance their case.

The conflict began in June 2023, when CBX demanded termination of their exclusive contracts, arguing that they had been misled into signing unfairly long-term agreements. SM countered with accusations that external forces were influencing the trio’s decision.

Following public and legal tension, both parties agreed on a compromise: SM would continue managing EXO’s group activities, while CBX’s individual activities would be handled by their new agency. A revised contract was drafted, including a clause requiring 10% of the new agency’s revenue to be paid to SM for the duration of the agreement.

After the news broke, Chen posted several messages on Bubble, with some fans believing they hinted at the ongoing situation.

“I just arrived,”
“Are you off work???”
“Did you have a good day?”
“I’m always healthy, both physically and mentally, so don’t worry about me.”

Fans expressed their gratitude for the update, appreciating his effort to reassure and comfort them.

In June 2024, SM attempted to finalize the terms, only for CBX to respond with conflicting evidence and ultimately refuse to uphold the revised agreement. The trio argued that the revenue-sharing condition was unfair and exploitative.

Since then, the situation has escalated into a protracted legal battle, with both sides attending multiple court hearings. As of now, the momentum appears to favor SM Entertainment, with CBX facing mounting setbacks in their legal pursuit.
