According to a MyDaily exclusive report on October 23, this year’s GQ Night will be held on December 4 in Seongsu-dong, Seoul. The event has already begun lining up multiple celebrities.
Originally launched in 2017, the GQ Night event ran through 2019, paused during the COVID-19 pandemic, and was revived in 2023. The party is known for its formal dress code, unlimited alcohol, DJ performances, and even luxury car exhibits. A photo wall will also be set up to capture attending celebrities, and the event will once again honor notable individuals with the Men of the Year awards. Last year’s honorees included Lee Jung-jae, Lee Jong-won, Yeonjun (TXT), Oh Sang-wook, Ahn Sung-jae, and Silica Gel.

However, the GQ Night event does not include any charitable components or public campaigns. It is solely a celebration of selected “Men of the Year.”
This has become particularly sensitive because W Korea, another Doosan Magazine affiliate, recently hosted a breast cancer awareness event that was slammed for being more of a celebrity hunting party than a sincere campaign.
On October 15, the W Korea event sparked outrage when rapper Jay Park performed sexually suggestive lyrics, such as “Your breasts have twin sisters”, “Take off more if it gets hotter”, and “You’re like a horny male.” Critics blasted the performance for being wildly inappropriate at a campaign aimed at promoting breast health awareness.

The controversy deepened with allegations of donation mismanagement. According to data disclosed by National Assembly member Lee Soo-jin, the total donation received by W Korea through the Ministry of Health and Welfare amounted to ₩315 million over 18 years, a stark contrast to Doosan Magazine’s reported figure of ₩1.1 billion.
While Doosan Magazine claimed the difference was due to donations made through other organizations, critics argue that the explanation was vague and unaccountable. W Korea stated that some funds were donated via the Seoul branch of the Korea Population, Health and Welfare Association between 2007 and 2009, and thus may not appear in the Korea Breast Cancer Foundation’s records an explanation that only raised more questions.
With the GQ Night party now being organized under the same corporate umbrella, entertainment insiders are reportedly hesitant to attend. Given the bad press surrounding Doosan Magazine’s recent actions, many are watching cautiously, speculating whether this new event could trigger another PR disaster.
