The revelation came during the October 22 broadcast of MBC’s variety show Radio Star, which featured Kim Kwang-kyu, Kim Wan-sun, Hong Yun-hwa, and ZO ZAZZ as guests in a special titled “We Actually Get Along Quite Well.”

Actor Kim Kwang-kyu, who co-starred with Yoona in tvN’s Bon Appétit, Your Majesty, which garnered massive attention and hit peak ratings of 20%, shared details about Yoona’s intense work ethic and grueling filming conditions.

He recalled, “It was my first time working with Yoona. With historical dramas, we film from 6 a.m. until sundown. The lead actors usually show up at least three hours early. Most people try to rest to maintain their condition, but Yoona led by example she worked incredibly hard.”

Kim emphasized that Yoona performed every scene herself, even those that only showed her back or involved cooking sequences. “I personally prefer using a double,” he admitted, “but she insisted on doing everything. Even the cooking scenes.”

He added, “I warned her, ‘You’re going to collapse at this rate,’ and by the end of filming, she almost did. Watching her, I understood why she’s so successful.”

Cooking scenes reportedly took two to three hours to shoot, often under intense heat, making the experience physically demanding for all involved.

Kim also praised rising actor Lee Chae-min, who was born in 2000, for his growth throughout the show. “He has great height and presence. As the episodes progressed, his acting improved so much that even the director was very pleased.”

Yoona’s dedication to completing her role without a body double has impressed fans and colleagues alike, highlighting the level of commitment she brings to her craft even at the cost of her own health.
