Chinese actress Qiao Xin, once hailed as the “richest 90s-born beauty in showbiz,” is now trapped in a suffocating marriage that has left her disillusioned and under constant surveillance.
Qiao Xin secretly married Lai Bo Lin, the heir of a powerful real estate conglomerate, in 2023. While her own family background is wealthy—her parents are successful entrepreneurs in finance, hospitality, and dining—it still pales in comparison to her husband’s family fortune. According to Sohu, insiders revealed that life as a wealthy daughter-in-law has been far from easy. Although she wanted to continue acting after marriage, her husband’s family strictly forbade it.
Her billionaire in-laws have reportedly imposed strict rules: no acting, no commercials, no public events, no revealing clothing, and no close interaction with male colleagues. Recently, they even demanded she retire completely from entertainment to focus on bearing children and mastering the etiquette of a refined socialite. Beyond that, Qiao Xin is reportedly monitored 24/7, from her wardrobe to her social media activity. The harsh expectations and her husband’s unwillingness to defend her against his parents have left her deeply disillusioned.
Despite the suffocating conditions, sources claim Qiao Xin has no intention—or ability—to seek divorce. Having paused her career for three years, she now lags behind peers in the entertainment industry and would struggle to compete if she returned. Moreover, her parents reportedly oppose a divorce, believing the marriage to a powerful, wealthy family provides stability and influence.

Back in July 2024, Qiao Xin was photographed with a mysterious man in Japan—later revealed to be her husband. The couple had held a family-only celebration in September 2023 before officially registering their marriage in October 2024.
Lai Bo Lin, Qiao Xin’s husband, is the second son of Lai Hai Min, chairman of the Hongrongyuan Real Estate Group in Shenzhen. Educated at an elite overseas university, he is said to be both successful and well-matched with Qiao Xin. According to the Hurun Global Rich List 2024, his father ranked 427th among the world’s richest, with assets worth 49.5 billion RMB (approx. $6.8 billion USD).
Qiao Xin herself was born into extraordinary wealth. The 1993-born actress grew up in a luxurious Shanghai mansion spanning 1,200 square meters, with enough space to park a helicopter and nearly 200 cars. Real estate in her neighborhood is valued at 200,000 RMB ($28,000 USD) per square meter. Her family also owns luxury properties in Canada. On a past variety show, Qiao Xin once said, “My father told me he would support me until I marry, and after I marry, he would support my husband too.” This lavish upbringing earned her nicknames like “Shanghai Princess,” “China’s Richest 90s Actress,” and even the “female Wang Sicong.”
Now, however, the once-envied actress faces the reality of a golden cage, where luxury cannot shield her from a marriage full of restrictions and a fading career.
