On September 9, Lee Min Jung uploaded a video titled “From Silver Spoon Rumors to Boys Over Flowers Casting—Lee Min Jung’s Life Story” on her YouTube channel “Lee Min Jung MJ”. In the clip, she recalled how she misaligned her OMR (Optical Mark Recognition) answer sheet during her first College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT), which cost her dearly.
“I misaligned the last 11 answers by one line. I thought I scored 362, but the actual result was 338. When I checked, my English OMR card had been shifted by one space. That day was the worst in my life,” Lee explained. The incident left her so distraught that she broke out in rashes and spent ten hours crying alone in her room.
Determined to recover, Lee said her repeat year was the hardest she had ever worked in her life. “My father advised me that if I wanted to write plays, I should study literature instead of theater, so I focused on Korean literature. The 2001 exam was relatively easy, but I scored close to 380 out of 400. While it wasn’t SKY University level, I was accepted into Sungkyunkwan University,” she shared.

Lee revealed that after such an intense year, she decided to let loose during her freshman year. “My mom thought I was crazy, but since I was paying for my own tuition, I didn’t care,” she laughed. She proudly added that she never took financial support from her parents, covering her tuition and living expenses with part-time jobs, starting with work at a café.
In 2001, Lee officially entered Sungkyunkwan University’s Department of Acting and Arts to study directing, which eventually set her on the path to becoming an actress.
