On September 11, social media and entertainment blogs were shaken when leading blogger Jiang Xiaoyan reported that Yu Menglong’s close friend had confirmed the tragic news. According to the account, the 37-year-old star had dinner with five to six friends in Beijing on the night of September 10. The gathering took place at one of the friends’ homes. Around 2 a.m. on September 11, everyone went to bed, with Yu locking his room door. By 6 a.m., when friends tried to wake him, there was no response.
A neighbor walking their dog later discovered Yu’s body outside the building and alerted authorities. A preliminary police investigation reportedly revealed two Rolex watches belonging to his friends in Yu’s pocket, and the mosquito screen of his bedroom window had been pried open. While authorities have ruled out homicide, the official cause of death remains under investigation.
News of Yu Menglong’s alleged death at age 37 has shocked Chinese netizens, sparking widespread discussions across social media. Chinese media outlets have attempted to contact the actor’s representatives but have yet to receive confirmation. Beijing police have also not released any official statements.
Born in 1988, Yu Menglong was one of Xinjiang’s most beloved “flower boys,” admired for his striking visuals and clean reputation.
