On the August 24 episode of SBS’s variety show My Little Old Boy, Yoon Shi-yoon embarked on a trip to Mongolia with his mother. Upon arriving at a ger in the middle of the vast Mongolian plains, Yoon revealed that he had booked a modernized ger with added conveniences for his mother’s comfort. He surprised everyone in the studio by unpacking a large amount of luggage, meticulously organizing each item to perfection. His mother, overwhelmed by his strict orderliness, jokingly burst out, “Just leave it as it is and let’s go out!” making the studio erupt with laughter.
During their trip, the two opened up about their past. Yoon recalled his childhood days living in a cramped one-room apartment, where they shared communal bathrooms with other families. He confessed, “Because of those past experiences, I can’t help but be obsessed with clean bathrooms even now.” His revelation touched viewers, offering a glimpse into how his upbringing shaped his personality.
The actor also expressed his wish to give back to his mother, who spent her twenties raising him and missed out on enjoying her youth. “I wanted to take her on a trip where she could experience what it feels like to enjoy her youth,” he said sincerely. His mother, in turn, revealed that she had long felt regret over not being able to study more, which led her to attend adult school later in life to pursue middle school-level education.
