On the August 12 episode of SBS variety show Dolsing Fourmen, singer Ailee appeared alongside Kim Jang-hoon, comedian Yoon Jung-soo, and YouTuber Kim Ji-yoo. The singer, now four months into her marriage, beamed as she described her newlywed life: “I’m so happy.”

Ailee revealed that she and Choi Si-hoon moved in together before tying the knot. “When I told my family in the U.S. about wanting to marry him, my grandmother and aunt advised me to live together for a year first. So we did,” she explained.

She admitted their mindset was practical: “We planned to separate if things didn’t work out. You can always cancel a wedding venue reservation.” But after a year of cohabitation, the couple realized they were well-matched and decided to marry.

Offering advice to co-guest Yoon Jung-soo, who mentioned his girlfriend visits often, Ailee said, “Living together and just visiting are completely different. You need to see each other’s daily routines to know if you’re compatible.”

Ailee also addressed her worry that the wedding might feel less special after living together: “But once we had the ceremony, it truly felt like we became a married couple. Dating while living together and being married are different experiences.”

The singer, who has been happily sharing affectionate photos on social media, also revealed they legally registered their marriage in August 2024 — a year before the wedding — so they could jointly purchase their home.
