On August 3, the Weracle YouTube channel released a video titled “Wi’s Sincere Confession While Standing on Two Feet.” The video shows Park Wi making a major breakthrough in his rehabilitation journey.
After enjoying a relaxing day with his wife, Song Ji-eun, at a local ginseng chicken soup restaurant run by their high school friend and having ice cream, Park Wi returned home and said, “Shall I try standing up today?” In his room, a new piece of equipment had been installed: a standing aid device he had previously used during physical therapy.
“This is my first time trying it at home,” Park Wi said calmly as he strapped himself into the new machine. “It’s a different model,” he added.
Just before standing, Park Wi asked Song Ji-eun, “Are you going to fall for me again?” to which she replied, “I’m ready.” As the machine lifted him upright, Ji-eun embraced him from behind and said, “It doesn’t look strange to see you standing,” giving him a warm back hug.
Overcome with emotion, Park Wi said through tears, “Let’s really stand up together. I’m feeling so emotional right now. I want to do even the smallest things with Ji-eun. I want to walk hand-in-hand with her. I’ll really stand up.”
Park Wi also shared a photo from before his accident when he was still able-bodied. “Lately, I’ve been receiving a lot of DMs from people saying they saw me walking in their dreams. It’s always uplifting to hear,” he said, reaffirming his strong determination to continue rehabilitation.
Park Wi and Song Ji-eun tied the knot in October last year. After being diagnosed with full-body paralysis from a fall, Park Wi has regained upper body movement through consistent rehabilitation and is now recognized as a symbol of positivity and perseverance.
