On July 29, a press conference was held at the Shocking K-Pop Center in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul, for Channel A’s new weekend drama My Lovely Journey. Attending the event were cast members Gong Seung-yeon, Yoo Jun-sang, Kim Jae-young, Hong Soo-hyun, Oh Hyun-jung, and director Kang Sol.

In My Lovely Journey, Gong Seung-yeon takes on the role of Kang Yeo-reum, a former idol who never got her moment in the spotlight. After seven grueling years as a trainee, she debuted with a group that disbanded within a year. Now, five years later, she works as a travel reporter for a program called One-Day Trip, fulfilling travel requests on behalf of others and slowly discovering the true meaning of success and life.

Given the role’s idol background, Gong Seung-yeon was asked whether she consulted her sister, Jeongyeon of TWICE, for insight. “I didn’t directly ask her for advice,” Gong Seung-yeon said. “But just by living together, I could feel things emotionally, and that helped me a lot with the role.”

Gong Seung-yeon also confessed that there are dance scenes in the drama, but she deliberately avoided showing them to her sister. “I was too embarrassed to show her. I didn’t even tell her I danced in the show because I thought she might laugh,” she said with a smile, prompting laughter from reporters.

My Lovely Journey is set to premiere on August 2 at 9:20 PM KST on Channel A. The drama combines elements of healing, personal growth, and emotional storytelling through the lens of a once-forgotten idol who rediscovers herself by experiencing the lives of others.

As anticipation builds, viewers are especially curious to see how Gong Seung-yeon brings authenticity to her character—especially with her unique insight into the idol world through her relationship with Jeongyeon of TWICE.
