On July 21, JYP Entertainment released a statement via DAY6’s official channels addressing the incident at their 4th official fan meeting.
JYP admitted to the mishandling of private data, stating, “We deeply apologize to the attendees who experienced inconvenience and harm due to the identity verification process.” They confirmed that the outsourced entry management led to “excessive collection and demand for personal information,” including cases where unnecessary details or documents were requested.
While the verification was originally intended to prevent illegal ticket reselling, the agency acknowledged the process was mismanaged. “We failed to respond flexibly and responsibly,” they said, emphasizing that such practices compromised fan trust.
In response, JYP announced corrective measures: full refunds for fans denied entry, an ongoing investigation with the operating company, and a commitment to safeguard fan privacy at future events. “We take full responsibility for the situation,” the agency stated, promising to “ensure that personal privacy is respected and no unfair collection of information occurs moving forward.”
