Through her personal social media account, Kim Si-won shared her reflections on participating in the festival. She highlighted her collaboration with DJ Chayou, noting, “We’ve been friends for 13 years. As kids, we shared the same dream of standing on stage together. Although time passed and we went through many twists and turns—walking different paths and gaining different experiences—our shared passion for music never changed.”
She continued, “That shared passion brought us back together. Under the name ‘Chawon’, we finally realized our dream. We’ll continue to bring good music to the stage. Thank you to everyone who enjoyed our performance.”
Chawon performed on July 13 at 1:30 PM for a 30-minute set, capturing the attention of festivalgoers with their synergy and stage presence.
Kim Si-won originally debuted in 2012 as Dahee in the girl group GLAM. However, her career faced a major setback in 2014 after being involved in a high-profile blackmail case against actor Lee Byung-hun. She was sentenced to one year in prison with a two-year suspended sentence. Following the incident, GLAM disbanded, and Dahee rebranded herself as Kim Si-won, later becoming a broadcast jockey (BJ) on AfreecaTV.
Despite previously announcing her retirement in January 2024, stating she would “never return”, Kim soon resumed her online activities as a YouTuber. Reports also claimed she had earned up to 2.4 billion KRW during her time as a streamer.
The S2O Korea Songkran Music Festival is hosted by BEPC Tangent, a subsidiary of CJ ENM, which acquired the license from Thailand’s iconic Songkran Festival. The event took place over two days, July 12 and 13, at the special stage in Seoul Land.
