Kim Bo-ra Opens Up About Changed Pregnancy Plans and Life After Marriage to Director Jo Bar-eun

Actress Kim Bo-ra, who married director Jo Bar-eun, responded candidly to questions about her pregnancy plans

At a café in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, Kim Bo-ra was interviewed regarding her appearance in MBC’s Death to Snow White – Black Out (hereafter Snow White). Snow White is a reverse-tracking crime thriller drama that follows a young man, accused of a mysterious murder in which no body was found, as he uncovers the truth 10 years later. Kim Bo-ra plays the role of Ha-seol, a stranger who drifts into the village of Mucheon.

In an interview last April for the movie Ghost of Oksu Station, Kim Bo-ra confessed, “I want to become a mother.” At the time, she said, “I’m 29 years old now, and many of my acquaintances are married. Watching them, I thought, ‘Isn’t that happiness?’ The process of overcoming things together with someone you love seems like happiness, so I wanted to get married quickly.”

Kim Bo-ra married director Jo Bar-eun, whom she met during the filming of the 2021 movie Grotesque Mansion, after three years of dating, with their wedding held in June. Snow White is her first work to be revealed after her marriage.

Regarding her previous comment about wanting to become a mother, Kim Bo-ra humorously remarked, “Just like how students’ career aspirations change between semesters, my pregnancy plans have changed too.” She added, “I think the idea will naturally come to me someday. This year, I’ve suddenly become interested in photography and have been taking pictures enthusiastically.”

Kim Bo-ra shared, “I’ve finally realized what truly makes me happy. I lose track of time when I’m in a darkroom. I’ve become completely absorbed in taking photos and scanning them.” She continued, “For now, I want to focus more on filming and acting projects.”

When asked if anything has changed after marriage, Kim Bo-ra replied, “I’ve become more honest with my emotions than before. I feel like the defensive barriers I used to have when interacting with others have disappeared.” She added, “I’m also getting closer to my family, and the process has been a learning experience. At first, it was difficult, but now I’m breaking through the awkwardness and building trust.”

Interestingly, she mentioned that she doesn’t typically discuss work with family or friends. However, after marriage, she noted, “It’s nice that my husband works in the same industry because he catches on quickly, even with minimal explanation. We help each other directly and honestly,” she said with a smile.
