It has been confirmed that psychiatrist Yang Jae-woong announced his wedding only 4 days after a patient died at his hospital
On July 26th, it was belatedly reported that a 33-year-old female patient died on May 27th at the hospital in Bucheon, Gyeonggi-do run by Yang Jae-woong. The patient was hospitalized on May 10th to treat her addiction to diet pills containing drugs but passed away 17 days later.
The name of the hospital and its director were not disclosed in the first report, but netizens quickly found out that it was Yang Jae-woong’s hospital. As criticism intensified and the bereaved family sued the hospital for their ignorance, Yang Jae-woong eventually issued an apology via his agency Mystic Story on the 29th and promised to cooperate with the police investigation.
Despite Yang Jae-woong’s apology, public reactions are still negative. In addition, netizens poured more criticism as they found out Yang Jae-woong announced his marriage with EXID’s Hani on June 1st, four days after the patient’s death.
At that time, Hani released a handwritten letter revealing that she decided to marry Yang Jae-woong. The female singer said, “I received so much love from many people and I think I was so lucky. Growing up getting so much love, I’ve also become a person who can share love with others”, adding “I met someone I wanted to share my life with. So we decided to get married. I promise to always live happily with gratitude. I’m deeply grateful to everyone who congratulated me”.
As this fact became known to the public, netizens even poured malicious comments on Hani’s SNS account, criticizing her for disrespecting the deceased and the bereaved family. Some commented, “You should reconsider your choice of man”, “Please consider your marriage again”, How could you announce your wedding that day?”, “I hope you two break up”, “How painful must it have been for the bereaved family while you were celebrating your wedding?”, “We don’t know if Hani knew about the incident or not”, etc.
Meanwhile, Yang Jae-woong publicized his romance with EXID member and actress Hani, who is 10 years younger than her, in 2022. The two will hold their wedding this September.
