Yoo Ah-in Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Man In His 30s While On Trial For Drug Use
Amid ongoing trials for drug charges, actor Yoo Ah-in has recently been sued for sexual assault by a man in his 30s
According to the police on July 26th, the Seoul Yongsan Police Station received a complaint against Yoo Ah-in on charges of same-sex sexual assault and has booked the actor. Under the current law, same-sex sexual assault is subject to quasi-rape.
The police said, “We have not yet contacted the accused (Yoo Ah-in)”, adding “We plan to summon him for investigation soon”.
A (30 years old) claimed that he was sexually assaulted by Yoo Ah-in while sleeping at an officetel in Yongsan, Seoul on July 14th. The officetel was neither Yoo Ah-in’s nor A’s residence, and other men were also present at the scene.
The police are also considering the possibility that Yoo Ah-in, who is currently on trial for drug use, may have committed the crime while under the influence of drugs.
The police conducted an accuser investigation on the previous day and A tested negative in the rapid drug test.
Yoo Ah-in was put on trial from September 2020 to March 2022 on charges of habitually administering propofol 181 times under the pretext of getting anesthesia for cosmetic procedures at hospitals in Seoul. From May 2021 to August 2022, the actor illegally received prescriptions of 1100 sleeping pills a total of 44 times under the name of another person. In January last year, he also smoked marijuana in the US with four accomplices, including Choi, and instructed others to smoke.
Yoo Ah-in admitted to some parts of the charges, including smoking marijuana and taking propofol during the trials, but denied instructing drug use, destroying evidence, aiding and abetting violations of the Narcotics Control Act, and attempting to flee abroad.
At the latest trial held on July 24th by the Seoul Central District Court’s Criminal Division 25, the prosecution requested a four-year imprisonment for Yoo Ah-in. The first sentence hearing for Yoo Ah-in is scheduled for 2 p.m. on September 3rd.
