Teen Fan Suffers Concussion After Being Hit by Idol Group’s Security Guard

It was recently revealed that a fan of the group CRAVITY was assaulted by a private security guard at the airport and subsequently filed a lawsuit. The agency issued an official apology

According to a video obtained by JTBC’s Newsroom on July 22nd, a teenage fan, A, who was filming CRAVITY members at the airport, had her phone suddenly jostled. The private security guard, B, asked, “Didn’t you push me?” When A denied it, he verbally abused her, calling her “insane person“.

A, who was pushed by the security guard, told Newsroom, “At that moment, I was so scared that I left the scene and went home. When I got home, my head hurt where I was hit…” She was later diagnosed with a concussion at the hospital and subsequently filed an assault complaint against the guard.

B explained to JTBC, “I only raised A’s hand upward and had no intention of hitting her.”

As the controversy grew, CRAVITY’s agency Starship Entertainment posted a notice titled “Airport Security Incident Notice” on CRAVITY’s official fan cafe on July 22nd, apologizing for the incident.

The agency stated, “We deeply apologize to the affected individuals and fans for the inappropriate actions of the security guard while performing artist security duties at the airport on June 23rd, as CRAVITY returned from their Japanese performances and promotions.”

The agency added, “Upon recognizing the incident, we immediately terminated the collaboration with the security company regarding CRAVITY’s on-site security. Additionally, we are establishing security protocols and training procedures to prevent such incidents in the future and ensure the safety of fans and artists. Once again, we apologize to the fans.”

Recently, incidents of excessive security measures for celebrities have been occurring frequently.

On July 12th, it was reported that the security team of actor Byun Woo-seok directed flashlights at passengers and blocked the airport gate, prompting the police to launch an investigation.
