JTBC’s “Travel With Mom” broadcast on June 2nd showed the second day of Lee Hyo-ri’s first trip with her mother.
After waking up in the morning, Lee Hyo-ri’s mother had a cup of tea and started practicing yoga following her daughter’s morning routine.
Lee Hyo-ri’s mother then revealed a secret behind Lee Hyo-ri’s birth. While getting ready to go out, Lee Hyo-ri suddenly recalled her childhood nickname and asked her mother why she named her ‘Hyo-ri’. In response, Lee Hyo-ri’s mother said, “Thinking about your name now, I think I named it well. I used ‘Hyo’ in ‘hyodo (a good daughter). I thought, ‘When I get older I’ll have to rely on my daughter’, so I added ‘Hyo’ in your name”.
Hearing the explanation, Lee Hyo-ri commented, “Then you chose the name for yourself, not for me? You should have given me a name that means ‘live well’ or something”. Lee Hyo-ri’s mom reacted, “I told you to ‘be a good daughter’. But didn’t you grow up like that? You’re a good daughter, aren’t you?”.
Lee Hyo-ri’s mother then asked her daughter about the toughest time she had throughout her 27-year career in the entertainment industry. When her mother asked, “Was it when the plagiarism controversy broke out?”, Lee Hyo-ri replied, “It was the hardest time”. She added, “Back then, I didn’t go outside. I stayed in the hotel and even hated being at home. I didn’t want to see Mom and Dad heartbroken so I stayed in the room alone for three nights and four days”.
She continued, “I didn’t eat anything and did not even feel like wanting to eat. Later, the hotel manager came and knocked on my door. He must have wondered, ‘Was she dead?’”.
Her mother felt the same thing. Lee Hyo-ri’s mother said, “When that happened, I felt very anxious because of you”, adding “Your mouth was very dry. Still, doesn’t it all pass now? No matter how difficult things were, they’re over now. Time is the best medicine. Your life depends on how well you control your mind. Even when it’s painful, the most important thing is to think positively”, comforting her daughter.
