Korean celebrities’ monthly brand reputation chart in August 2021: Did BTS and BLACKPINK win over 2020 Tokyo Olympic?
In the brand reputation rankings, which includes every Korean star, are famous KPOP idols like BTS and BLACKPINK still on top with high ranks?
On August 16, The Korean Business Research Institute announced the recent monthly brand reputation rankings for all Korean celebrities, including famous music artists, actors, athletes, and entertainers. The chart consisted of Korean stars with many different careers, so the competition became more intense. In August 2021, the top 10 has changed gradually.
From July 16 to August 16, experts from The Korean Business Research Institute had collected and analyzed every Korean celebrity’s index. The data were sorted into different categories: participation index, media index, communication index, and community mentions.
Top 5 brand reputation rankings for Korean celebrities for August 2021
1st place: BTS (K-pop group) – 13,098,122 points
BTS was still in first place this month, with a brand value score of 13,098,122 points. It is clear that Koreans had been paying close attention to the Tokyo Olympic 2020 and the athletes over the last month. However, BTS’s allure hadn’t dissipated, even when their scores reached tens of millions, overshadowing the rest of the chart’s representatives.
“According to the results of big data research of Korean celebrity brand value in August 2021, BTS ranks #1,” stated Koo Changhwan, Director of the Korea Corporate Reputation Research Institute. “They lead not only in terms of media but also in terms of the connection between brand value and content consumers.’”
2nd place: Kim Yeon Koung (Volleyball player) – 3,584,626 points
Kim Yeon Koung came in second owing to the heat of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and the success of the Korean women’s volleyball team, which made it to the semi-finals of the championship tournament. Known as the team’s leader, Kim Yeon Koung is loved by Korean netizens for her sporting prowess. As a result, she scored 3,584,626, beating out numerous singers, actresses, athletes, and other celebrities.
3rd place: Lim Young Woong (trot singer) – 2,916,572 points
With a brand value score of 2,916,572 points, famous male trot singer Lim Young Woong rounded out the top three.
4th place: BLACKPINK (K-pop group) – 2,522,776 points
BLACKPINK, with a brand value score of 2,522,776 points, came in fourth. BLACKPINK and BTS were the only Kpop groups to make it into the top 10 of the chart this month.
5th place: Son Heung Min (Football player) – 2,508,474 points
Son Heung Min has always been the most renowned athlete and is adored by Korean netizens. With a brand value score of 2,508,474 points, the Tottenham FC player rounded out the top five.
