Life after “Winter Sonata” for Lee Hye Eun

A not so prospective career against the backdrop of a happy family life, Lee Hye Eun is content.

“Winter Sonata” is one of the Korean drama classics of the 2000s that brought vigor to the Hallyu wave. Apart from the well-known duo Choi Ji Woo and Bae Yong Jun, the supporting female character played by Lee Hye Eun also receives continued attention. In the series, she plays Kong Jin Suk, the female lead’s best friend, who is loved for her looks, bright smile, warmth and kindness.

During her time acting in the film, Lee Hye Eun was only an amateur actress with little reputation in the industry. While the actress did not have much screen time in the series, Hye Eun still had her career turning point and gained much more recognition. The actress even had her first lead role in the series “Love and Hate”. Unfortunately, after a few years, Lee Hye Eun could not further develop her acting career and was only able to afford supporting roles, guest stars and some rare lead roles.

While her career did not have many peaks, Lee Hye Eun is still persistent with her artistic pursuits. Recently, she appeared in “Kill Heel”, broadcasting earlier this year, but was also in charge of a guest role.

Despite her not so successful career, her personal life is extremely satisfying. At 49, she is happy with the family she built  and frequently shares photos of her son to the media. While her son is still young, he has accomplished high records in school and sports. This side of her life makes her more content with where she is at now notwithstanding a mild career growth.

At the age of 49, Lee Hye Eun changed a lot since her time with “Winter Sonata”. If she does not have any filming schedule, the actress rarely wears makeup or expensive clothes. Hye Eun is comfortable with showing her bare face on social media. While the actress does no longer have her once youthful look as before, she is now the most natural and comfortable.
