WINNER member Song Min Ho makes his debut as an actor through the Netflix movie “Seoul Vibe”
On August 23rd, a press conference for the Netflix movie “Seoul Vibe”, which is helmed by Director Moon Hyun Seong, was held at the Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas Grand Ballroom in Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. On this day, cast members, Yoo Ah In, Go Kyung Pyo, Lee Kyu Hyung, Park Joo Hyun, Ong Seong Wu, Moon So Ri, and director Moon Hyun Seong attended.
“Seoul Vibe” is a car-chasing action movie that takes place in 1988, when the Supreme Team in Sanggye-dong, who dreams of the American dream, receives an offer they can’t refuse and is put into a VIP slush fund investigation operation.
In this work, WINNER’s Song Min Ho (also known as Mino) will appear as an actor. Born and raised in the same neighborhood with the Supreme Team in Sanggye-dong, he is jealous of Dong Wook (Yoo Ah In) and tries to defeat him. In addition, Song Min Ho also participated in the music production for “Seoul Vibe”.
Regarding the soundtrack and music for “Seoul Vibe”, director Moon Hyun Seong said: “From the hip-hop songs that were very popular in mainland United States before 1988, to the popular songs that were popular in Korea in the second half of the movie, I worked hard to create a very colorful mixtape. Song Min Ho and Gaeko gave me a lot of decisive help in the work.
In addition, regarding Song Min Ho’s casting for the role of Galchi, the director explained: “From the planning stage to the subsequent casting process, not only me but also everyone in the production team who worked with me thought it was a hip-hop-like work. I think I always enjoyed every moment with that concept. As expected, Song Min Ho delivered the concept brilliantly.”
“I wondered how things would turn out after the cast gathered for ‘Seoul Vibe’, and when I went to the shooting site, things were much better than I expected,” the director added.
Then, critically acclaimed actor Yoo Ah In, who worked with Song Min Ho, shared his feelings about the idol’s acting debut: “I was shocked. He was so free in his soul and so passionate. There’s this rawness in him that I couldn’t see in other actors. And I think that rawness really fit well with our film and brings a new freshness”.
“I just had conversations with him, too,” Yoo Ah In added, “He felt a lot of pressure because he was a musician and this was his acting debut. But he overcame that pressure, and he did very well. I was very surprised and happy, and I felt compelled to also do better myself.”
“Seoul Vibe” will be released on the streaming platform Netflix starting from August 26th.
