4 Korean blockbusters lining up to excite moviegoers this summer following “The Outlaws”

These movies are expected to continue the success of “The Outlaws 3” and revive the Korean film industry.

13 days after its release (May 31st), “The Roundup: No Way Out (The Outlaws 3)” is currently the savior of Korean cinemas as it is about to surpass 8 million viewers. As “The Roundup: No Way Out” became a big hit, attention is focused on other works scheduled to premiere in the second half of this year.

Therefore, a lineup of four Korean films to be released this summer has been unveiled. There are “Smugglers”, “The Moon”, “The Informal Operation” and “Concrete Utopia”.

“Smugglers” is a new film directed by Ryu Seung Wan, the director of popular works such as “Berlin”, “Veteran” and “Mogadishu”.

Set in the 1970s, the story centers on Hannyeos living in a small sea village who get caught up in smuggling.

“Smugglers” attracted keen attention with its splendid cast lineup. It gathers veteran actors with solid acting skills, such as Kim Hye Soo, Yeom Jung Ah, Jo In Sung, Park Jung Min and Go Min Si. Since this work will mark the second time Jo In Sung worked with director Ryu Sung Wan on a movie following Mogadishu, many viewers are also raising expectations for the result of their synergy.

The Moon

“The Moon” is the new work by director Kim Yong Hwa, who is well-known for the “Along with the Gods” movie series. It stars Seol Kyung Gu, Do Kyung Soo, Kim Hee Ae, Park Byung Eun and Jo Han Chul.

“The Moon” is a film about the struggles of astronaut Sun Woo (Do Kyung Soo), who was left on the moon alone due to an accident, and Jae Guk (Seol Kyung Gyu), a former head of the space center who tries to save Sun Woo.

It is known as the first Korean film to have “lunar exploration” as subject matter, drawing more attention.

In addition, many people are expecting it to be a high-quality work as it is produced for IMAX release and the first Korean film to be fully applied in the Dolby Cinema format.

It will be released on August 2nd.

The Informal Operation

“The Informal Operation” is set to be released on August 2nd along with “The Moon”.

Starring Ha Jung Woo and Joo Ji Hoon, this movie tells the story of the people who tried to solve a situation that arose when a diplomat was abducted in Beirut, Lebanon in 1986.

“The Informal Operation” is known to have been produced based on a true story, raising expectations from many fans.

Ha Jung Woo and Joo Ji Hoon collaborated with each other in “Along with the Gods”, so the perfect harmony between the two was already predicted.

Director Kim Sung Hoon created a number of box office hits, including the films “A Hard Day”, “Tunnel” and Netflix’s original series “Kingdom.

Concrete Utopia

“Concrete Utopia” (directed by Um Tae Hwa) tells the story of earthquake survivors in “Imperial Palace Apartment” in Seoul. Yeong Tak (Lee Byung Hun) leads the survivors in the crisis situation amply helped by Min Seong (Park Seo Joon), a public servant and his nurse wife Myeong Hwa (Park Bo Young).

Concrete Utopia

This is a work that made many movie fans wait with only the cast lineup and background setting. The cast includes Lee Byung Hun, Park Seo Joon, Park Bo Young, Kim Sun Young and Park Ji Hu.

“Concrete Utopia” is known to be based on the webtoon “Pleasant Bullying”.

In particular, Lee Byung Hun already challenged the disaster genre through the films “Emergency Declaration” and “Ashfall”. Expectations are high that he will show more realistic acting in this work.
