BLACKPINK’s Jennie Shares Behind Story Of Her First Dance Challange “SPOT” With Zico
After introducing the dance challenge for their collaboration song, Jennie and Zico also unveiled the secret behind it
Right after the release of their music video for “SPOT!”, Zico and BLACKPINK’s Jennie also posted their dance challenge video for the new song. The short video clip of 25 seconds immediately became viral on social media and is expected to become a trending dance on TikTok in a few days
What’s more special is that it was the first time Jennie did a dance challenge with her own song. Sharing the challenge video on her SNS, Jennie shyly admitted that it was her first challenge.
On the livestream of Jennie and Zico, known as the creator of “dance challenge”, the two also revealed various interesting behind-the-scenes stories. Zico said Jennie was the person who choreographed this dance challenge.
In particular, the male singer said, “Actually, it was Jennie who created the challenge. I’ve done many dance challenges before but this time it was done by Jennie”.
Jennie smiled and commented, “He asked me if we could do this and that but I said, ‘No’. He came up with other ideas but I still replied, ‘No, not like that’”. Zico emphasized, “All the dances for this challenge were Jennie’s ideas”.
Zico is the person who initiated the dance challenge trend. Back in 2020, Zico released the song “Any song” and shared videos of him dancing to the song with other idols to promote it. Later, dance challenge spread widely in the whole Korean entertainment industry.
Appearing on an entertainment program, Zico revealed that he was criticized for creating dance challenge. The male rapper shared, “Idols normally have time to rest or practice for their performance during breaks. But now, they need to go around seeing other idols to film dance challenge videos. They also have to learn the choreographies of other idols. I’m here to deliver my apology to all of them for creating this trend!”.
