The ongoing transfer drama surrounding T1’s star top-laner Zeus (Choi Woo-je) has taken a new turn with the public reveal of a heartfelt letter from his family. The letter, recently shared by a well-known LCK YouTuber, offers an emotional glimpse into Zeus’s struggles and reveals that T1 is not the only party responsible for the mental toll and public backlash he endured.
T1 Confirms Zeus’s Innocence But Too Late?
Earlier, T1 released a video officially clearing Zeus of any wrongdoing related to the extended transfer saga that began in late 2024 and only reached a conclusion after the First Stand event. Despite this confirmation, public debate and divided opinions persist.
However, just as the dust seemed to settle, the release of the emotional plea from Zeus’s family has reignited discussions. The letter appears to have been written in the early stages of the controversy when T1 had already begun distancing itself from Zeus. At the time, public opinion quickly turned hostile, leaving the young player isolated.
“Please save Woo-je. Our son is not the bad person people are making him out to be,” the letter reads.
The Silence of The Play and HLE Draws Criticism
While T1 eventually made a statement, it did little to improve the situation. In fact, CEO Joe Marsh’s comments during an AMA failed to acknowledge Zeus’s emotional burden, inadvertently stoking further outrage among fans.
Meanwhile, The Play and Hanwha Life Esports (HLE) both of which were involved in the broader context of the transfer talks chose to remain silent until the conclusion of First Stand. Their lack of transparency has led many fans to criticize their role in exacerbating the issue.
Zeus Faced the Fallout Alone
With only one party (T1) addressing the matter and even then, only partially Zeus and his family found themselves bearing the brunt of public backlash. The League of Legends community, left in the dark, was quick to form biased narratives that left Zeus emotionally vulnerable.
Although the scandal may be over in official terms, the emotional scars and reputational damage remain. In the end, Zeus and his family are the only ones left carrying the weight of a situation that involved multiple parties.
