“Yumi’a Cell 2” writer Song Jae-jung: “Kim Go-eun is the best, I admire Yumi”

Writer Song Jae-jung of “Yumi’s Cells Season 2” expressed her affection and gratitude to the main actress Kim Go-eun.

On July 28th, a video interview was held with director Lee Sang-yeop, writer Song Jae-jung, and writer Kim Kyung-ran from the production team of the TVing web drama “Yumi’s Cells Season 2.”

“Yumi’s Cells” is a cell-stimulated empathy romance drama about ordinary Yumi who eats, loves, and grows with her cells. It is based on a webtoon of the same name and recently finished season 2 with high popularity.

Song Jae-jung, who worked as the creator and writer of “Yumi’s Cells,” congratulated Kim Go-eun, who played the main character Yumi, for winning the “Best Actress Award” at the 1st Blue Dragon Series Awards.

Writer Song said, “I was happy as if I was the one who won a prize for my work. It was the first time for me to be that happy to see an actress receiving an award,” she said. “Kim Go-eun suffered a lot while filming, and I’m happy that she receives such a reward.”

She then said, “I looked up on my phone to see what Kim Go-eun said at the time, and after the award ceremony, I sent her a text message saying, ‘I admire Yumi’,” making everyone laugh.

Also, writer Song said, “In season 1, the key was how accurately the webtoon was to be remade into a drama, but in season 2, I tried to give a little variation. If it was a romantic comedy in season 1, I worked on season 2 with the thought of making it more like a melodrama,” she said. “I also shed tears when I saw Goo Woong’s break-up scene of Kim Go-eun and Ahn Bo-hyun. I thought I had written the script so desperately,” she praised the actors’ performances.
