Yoo Ah-in’s first trial postponed from Nov 14th to Dec 12th

The first trial for actor Yoo Ah-in (real name Uhm Hong-sik), who is accused of habitual drug use, has been postponed to December

According to the court on November 13th, the Seoul Central District Court’s Criminal Division 25-1 changed the date of Yoo Ah-in’s first trial on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act from November 14th to December 12th.

On November 10th, Yoo Ah-in’s legal team submitted a request to change the trial date. 4 additional defense lawyers were also appointed. The reason for the change was reported to be the short preparation period.

Yoo Ah-in’s legal team, including the previously appointed Infinity Law Office and Dongjin Law Firm, added Haegwang Law Firm, bringing the total number of defense lawyers to 8. The legal team includes a former chief judge of the High Court and a former head of the Drug Division at the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office.

Meanwhile, Yoo Ah-in is accused of habitually using 4 types of medical narcotics, including propofol, midazolam, ketamine and remimazolam, a total of 181 times under the guise of cosmetic anesthesia.

He allegedly used propofol (9.6 liters), midazolam (567mg), ketamine (10.7ml) and remimazolam (200mg) regularly. The prosecution also charged him with illegally using other people’s names 40 times to take 1,100 doses. Yoo Ah-in was indicted without detention.

Yoo Ah-in has become a hot topic ahead of his first trial, which requires mandatory attendance after being indicted.
