Actor Yoo Ah In has been embroiled in controversy over marijuana following habitual use of propofol.
As soon as this news spread, a post uploaded by a netizen on an online community on Jan 1st, 2016 emerged as a “prophecy”.
A netizen drew attention by uploading a post titled “I think Yoo Ah In took drugs (serious post)”.
The original poster (OP) mentioned the 2015 SBS Drama Awards held the previous day, saying, “Those who saw him deliver his acceptance speech yesterday would know. He seemed to lose his mind.”
OP asked, “From his expressions and the way he talked, I thought, ‘Ah! He seems feeble.’ How did you feel?”
At that time, community users showed various reactions such as “It seems like that”, “It was a little uncomfortable to see” and “It’s a topic that’s not worth talking about seriously.”
On Feb 8th, Yoo Ah In’s agency UAA said, “Yoo Ah In recently received a police investigation regarding propofol.”
The agency added, “We are actively cooperating with all investigations related to this. We will actively explain the problematic parts. We apologize for causing concern.”
Afterwards, on Feb 10th, Hankook Ilbo reported, “The Drug Crime Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency requested a urine test on Yoo Ah In conducted by the National Forensic Service. The actor tested negative for propofol but positive for general marijuana.”
Hankook Ilbo claimed that after the police executed a search warrant for Yoo Ah In at Incheon International Airport on Feb 5th, they confirmed THC-positive results in a simple urine test and requested further precise analysis from the National Forensic Service.
Hankook Ilbo also wrote, “In the case of propofol, it disappears from the body after 3~4 days, making it difficult to check with a urine test.”
