YG Entertainment postpones all artists’ promotions and releases in light of the Itaewon tragedy
YG Entertainment has announced that it will postpone all releases and promotions scheduled for the company’s artists for the time being.
YG Entertainment is the company that manages many famous artists such as BIGBANG, BLACKPINK, WINNER, TREASURE and more. The company took to its social media to issue a statement about the discontinuation of scheduled content releases on October 30.
YG Entertainment’s decision was made due to the tragedy in Itaewon that occurred earlier on October 30, which left more than 151 people dead and more than 300 injured. South Korea has also announced a national mourning period.
Before YG Entertainment made its announcement, SM Entertainment was the first large Korean entertainment company to cancel activities because of the tragedy in Itaewon. Specifically, SM Entertainment informed users on its own platform, KWANGYA CLUB, of the company’s decision to cancel the annual Halloween party.
