Celebrating the 15th anniversary of its foundation, Xports News will look back on stars who have been active in various fields such as music, broadcasting, and movies through its own awards ceremony, X’s Awards. For stars who have won many trophies for their talents in various fields, here are the winners of the “A handful of awards is still not enough” Award.

◆ Lee Seung-gi

Lee Seung-gi debuted with “Because You’re My Woman” produced by Psy in 2004. Lee Seung-gi, who gained explosive popularity upon his debut, has become a “National Younger Brother” by winning numerous rookie awards. In addition, Lee Seung-gi drew attention for being Lee Sun-hee’s beloved pupil.

Lee Seung-gi made a leap forward as an actor by appearing in KBS 2TV’s weekend drama “Famous Seven Princesses.” At that time, “Famous Seven Princesses” gained popularity nationwide with a viewer rating of about 50%. Lee Seung-gi made his first leading role debut in the SBS weekend drama “Brilliant Legacy” in 2009. In 2009, Lee Seung-gi won the Mnet 20’s Choice “Hot Drama Male Star” Award, the SBS Drama Awards’ Special Planning Award, the Best Couple Award, and the Teen Star Award.

In 2007, Lee Seung-gi appeared on KBS 2TV’s “2 Days 1 Night,” breaking away from his image as a handsome boy and getting closer to the public with his image of a clumsy guy. In 2008, he won the Most Popular Award at the KBS Entertainment Awards, and in 2010, he won the Best Male Entertainer Award in the entertainment show category at the KBS Entertainment Awards, and in 2011, he shared the Grand Prize at the KBS Entertainment Awards with the members of “2 Days 1 Night.”

In 2008, IU debuted at the age of 15. IU, who stepped on stage alone with her debut track “Mia” in a low–tension atmosphere that is quite different from now, had an unimpressive debut activity contrary to expectations.

Since then, IU has been steadily working in music with “Boo,” “Hey,” “Marshmallow,” and “Nagging,” before appearing on her first fixed entertainment program SBS “Heroes” in 2010 and received the SBS Entertainment Awards’ New Star Award.

In the same year, IU rose to the top with her mega hit “Good Day”, which won 8 trophies on music shows, secured the grand prize at Seoul Music Awards Digital Music Award, Song of the Year at Melon Music Award, and Best Vocal Performance at Mnet Asian Music Awards.

Then, through her various other hits, from “You and I,” “The Red Shoes,” “See you on Friday,” “Night Letter,” “Palette,” “Pippi,” “Love For Me,” “eight,” “Blueming,” “Celebrity” to”Lilac”, IU has actively worked on music and won 96 times on music show, making her the number 1 female soloist in Korea when it comes to the number of wins. 

In 2011, IU made her debut as an actress through the KBS2 series “Dream High”, and later won KBS Drama Awards’ Rookie of the Year and Best Couple with her 2013 drama “Bel Ami”.

In 2018, the idol-actress appeared in tvN’s “My Mister” and with this appearance, won APAN’s Star Awards “Top Excellence Award – Actress in a Miniseries” and “K-Star Award”; Asia Artist Awards’ “Best Actor Award”,“Artist of the Year – Television/Film”, “Asia Hot Artist – Television/Film”, and “Popularity Award – Actress”; and Baeksang Arts Awards’ “V Live Popularity Award – Female”. 

After continuing her acting career, IU made her first commercial film debut with the movie “The Broker” directed by Hirokazu Koreeda, and was invited to the Cannes Film Festival for the first time.

Lee Jun Ho

Lee Jun Ho debuted as the main dancer of 2PM in 2008. 2PM, who adopts a unique “beast idol” concept, received the Asia Song Festival Asia Rookie of the Year Award and drew attention right from their debut.

Within one year of their debut, 2PM has swept the “Disk Bonsang Award” at Golden Disc Awards, “Song of the Year” at KBS Music Festival”, “Top 10 Artist” at Melon Music Award, “Best Male Group” and “Artist of the Year” at Mnet Asian Music Awards, as well as various others.

Starting with composing the 2PM song “Give It To Me” in 2011, Lee Jun Ho proves immense musical ability to the point of releasing a solo album full of self-composed songs.

In 2013, Lee Jun Ho started his acting career with the movie “Cold Eyes”, before taking on his first leading role in 2015 work “Twenty”. Then, in 2017, the idol-actor appeared in the KBS2 drama “Chief Kim”, where he won the Excellence Award for Actor in a Mid-length drama at the KBS Drama Awards, as well as Best Couple with his co-star Nam Goong Min.

When Lee Jun Ho enlisted in the army in 2019, a fancam of him performing the 2PM song “My House”, which was aired 4 years ago, suddenly went viral on YouTube. At this, many fans expressed their regret at the explosive popularity which came late for Jun Ho, as the idol has already enlisted. 

In the end, however, Lee Jun Ho has achieved his well-deserved recognition via his latest K-drama “The Red Sleeve”, which he filmed after being discharged from the military. Playing the male lead Yi San, Lee Jun Ho managed to win “Best Actor” and “TikTok Popularity Award” at Baeksang Arts Award, “Top Excellence Drama – Actor in a Miniseries” and “Best Couple” at the MBC Drama Awards, and “Best Actor” at the Korea PD Awards.
