Following the passing of Taiwanese star Big S (Barbie Hsu) in February 2025, waves of remembrance have continued to emerge from fans around the world. From Europe to North America and mainland China, admirers have found meaningful ways to honor her legacy—gestures that recently moved her younger sister, Xiao S, to personally express her gratitude.
Big S’ husband, DJ Koo Jun-yup, previously designed a memorial sculpture in her honor, which has been installed at Jinbaoshan Cemetery in Taiwan for the public to visit and pay their respects. Beyond this, fans have taken the initiative to create international memorials that reflect the late actress’ lasting impact.
After a memorial bench was set up in London in July 2025, drawing many visitors who left flowers and notes, a new fundraising campaign was recently launched to establish another bench in Paris. The proposed location is the Tuileries Garden near the Louvre Museum. According to organizers, adopting and naming a memorial bench requires a donation of 5,000 euros (approximately NT$186,000). The fundraiser reached its goal within just two days.
The campaign organizer shared that the intention was to allow those who love and miss Big S to “spend the four seasons by the Seine with her, feeling the presence of love and beauty.” Supporters will collectively discuss the bench’s final placement and naming once arrangements are complete.
Meanwhile, fans in Toronto, Canada, have also successfully completed fundraising for a Big S memorial bench. The required amount—approximately 2,530 Canadian dollars (around NT$58,000)—was reached on February 7. The heartfelt messages left by participants touched many online, with comments such as “The messages are so moving—this is Xiyuan’s power,” and “Angels attract angels. Thank you for coming into this world.”
In mainland China, fans in Guangzhou took another striking approach by purchasing a large building billboard to display images of Big S alongside her sister Xiao S, celebrating her life and legacy. Upon learning of the tribute, Xiao S was deeply moved and recorded a personal voice message to convey her thanks.
“Please help me sincerely thank them. I’m truly touched, and truly grateful,” Xiao S said in the recording.
As tributes continue to appear across continents, Big S’ influence clearly lives on—not only through her work, but through the enduring love and unity of the fans she left behind.
