Writer of “Little Women”: “I know it’s hard to empathize with, but you won’t regret watching the drama to the end”

“Little Women” opens its second act full of new plot twists.

tvN’s Saturday and Sunday drama “Little Women” will begin its second act starting with episode 7, which will be aired on Sep 24th. All three sisters started from different clues but soon gathered at the same place called the ‘Wonryeong Group’. The mystery about the blue orchid and the “Jeongran Society” that was waiting to be discovered is getting more and more suspicious.

Won Sang-ah (Um Ji-won) and Park Jae-sang (Um Ki-joon) are ready to ascend to a higher place, and the drama’s thrilling sense of crisis is heightened by the mysterious death of Oh Hye-seok (Kim Mi-sook).

Along with such an unpredictable development, the drama is seeing an upward trend. The latest episode 6 recorded the highest rating of 10.5% in the metropolitan area, breaking its own record, and in the Non-English TV series category ranking provided by Netflix’s official site ‘Netflix Top 10’, the drama has ranked in the TOP 10 for two weeks in a row, showing off its dignity.

At the center of the pouring praise is writer Jeong Seo-gyeong. Her way of building vivid characters embodied in a storm-like development, plot twists, and uniquely deep dialogue on a solid worldview background immediately fascinated viewers. Ahead of the second act of “Little Women”, writer Jeong Seo-gyeong told her honest story about her drama.

In writing ‘Little Women’, writer Jeong Seo-gyeong said that she paid attention to “the harmony between the smallest story and the biggest story”. “I wanted to make the biggest story happening at the bottom of our society and the smallest and most specific story floating around in our daily life exist at the same time,” she emphasized.

What about the three sisters Oh In-joo (Kim Go-eun), Oh In-kyung (Nam Ji-hyun), and Oh In-hye (Park Ji-hoo), as viewed by writer Jeong Seo-gyeong? Writer Jeong Seo-kyung said that when she saw the Oh In-joo played by Kim Go-eun, she realized, ‘She’s the real Oh In-joo.’

Kim Go-eun

Jeong said, “When Oh In-joo sees a big amount of money, she is greedy, scared, and also has vague dreams. Actress Kim Go-eun sometimes acts violently and boldly like a typhoon, and sometimes accurately and meticulously like a jeweler. That’s how Oh In-joo became a character that shines as richly as a jewel with so many different sides.”

Regarding Oh In-kyung played by Nam Ji-hyun, the writer said, “I thought I drew Oh In-kyung as a cold and rational person, but actress Nam Ji-hyun added a face full of passion and deep affection to this character. With the solid acting experiences she gained throughout her career, the actress created an incredibly bold and confident face for the character”.

Oh In-kyung progresses slowly and steadily. So we will only find out that it is Oh In-kyung who pushes the story later on”, she emphasized, raising expectations for the future development of this character.

Referring to Oh In-hye, the youngest who makes her two older sisters feel helpless, writer Jeong Seo-kyeong said, “Actress Park Ji-hoo gained her courage to express the mysterious soul of a person who grew up with a fierce and calm manner. Looking at Oh In-hye’s calm face even when being surrounded by strong winds, we can understand why the two sisters bet everything to protect this child”, drawing attention.

Oh In-joo is in charge of emotions, Oh In-kyung symbolizes rationality and Oh In-hye is responsible for the soul. The three sisters with different appearances make the viewers immerse in the story and have a variety of interpretations. Therefore, empathizing with the characters is another way to enjoy “Little Women”.

Writer Jeong Seo-kyeong added, “In the first half, the three sisters each opened the door in front of them and entered a new world. Will they be able to get what they really want to have? How will the sisters, who are now separated, find each other again and gain back their relationship? These details will be the highlights in the second half of the drama”.

The writer then greeted, “I would like to thank the viewers for being with the sisters on their journey. The more you empathize with them, the more you will understand that their lives are not easy, and sometimes hard to bear”. “From now on, each sister will begin to fight for what they wish to get in earnest. The three will eventually reach where they want to go in their own way. I think you will not regret watching the story until the end to find out where they will go and who they will fight against to get there”, she said, making drama fans look forward to the second half of the drama with more intense developments.

Meanwhile, the 7th episode of “Little Women” will air at 9:10 p.m on September 24th.
