“I really enjoyed ‘The Village Barber.’ I’ve spent a lot of time around older people, so that kind of emotional tone feels familiar to me. I think it’s also because I grew up in the countryside. My older sister is currently working as a hair designer in Australia, and I’ve been influenced by that environment since I was young. I even used to cut my own hair,” Wi Ha Joon shared.
On April 8, a post-finale interview for the tvN drama Siren’s Kiss was held at a café in Cheongdam-dong, Seoul. Siren’s Kiss is a fatal romance thriller about a man investigating insurance fraud who becomes obsessed with a woman suspected to be involved, under the premise that loving her leads to death. Wi Ha Joon played Cha Woo Seok, an investigator who relentlessly tracks Han Seol Ah (played by Park Min Young). His portrayal of a character balancing cold logic and deep devotion earned steady praise.

Debuting in 2015 through the film Coin Locker Girl, Wi Ha Joon spent his early years in Wando until his senior year of high school before moving to Seoul to chase his dream. He built his career through dramas such as Romance Is a Bonus Book, 18 Again, and Little Women, later expanding his global fanbase with Squid Game. After focusing on OTT projects, he returned to television with Siren’s Kiss, marking his first small-screen role in two years since The Midnight Romance in Hagwon.
Although he has appeared in several romance projects, Wi Ha Joon is particularly recognized for his strong presence in genre works like Squid Game, Bad and Crazy, Midnight, and The Worst of Evil. During the interview, he expressed a desire to explore more romance roles, emphasizing that he has a warm and gentle personality in real life.

He also revealed a growing interest in joining regular variety shows. Mentioning The Village Barber, he said, “Park Bo Gum is truly impressive—he even got certified. Watching the show felt fascinating, and I think it’s a great program.” He added with a smile, “I’d love to appear on ‘Pinggyego’ as well. I hope they invite me.”
When asked more about his past, Wi Ha Joon shared, “I lived in Wando until May of my senior year in high school. I loved dancing when I was young, so I created a club, performed, and enjoyed being on stage. Feeling that excitement made me dream of becoming a celebrity. I originally wanted to join a dance group or do performance-based work.”
He continued, “I failed multiple times, but I believed there was a reason for it. There wasn’t much I could do in Wando, so I decided not to delay any longer. I left a letter for my parents and moved to Seoul. After that, I transferred schools and searched for housing, and my whole family went through a lot. Eventually, I graduated in Seoul.”

“Back in middle school, I asked my parents to send me to an arts high school, but they didn’t allow it. I stayed in a dorm and kept my dream alive through club activities, but eventually I felt I couldn’t wait any longer and moved to Seoul. After failing a dance group audition, I naturally started attending an acting academy, and that’s how I ended up here today.”
When asked if he was popular during his school days, he replied honestly, “I had tanned skin and a strong impression when I was younger. I never thought of myself as handsome.”
He also reflected on his skills, saying he wasn’t particularly confident in dancing but excelled in performance. “Dance requires mastering set choreography, but I loved acrobatics and was especially good at aerial moves, which gave me an edge in performance,” he explained. “That’s why I dreamed of becoming a performance-focused idol like 2PM.”
