Why Was Jennie Absent From Yugyeom’s Album Listening Party?

GOT7’s maknae Yugyeom recently released his solo full album “Trust Me”. Upon the album release, many colleagues and friends posted their congratulations on Yugyeom’s album on social media. Especially, BLACKPINK’s Jennie was among them.

The relationship between Jennie and Yugyeom surprised many K-pop fans because the two have not had any moments in public. However, some fans pointed out that there were many opportunities for the two to become friends in the past. In particular, BLACKPINK and GOT7 are both famous groups of K-pop’s third generation so they must have met each other at events such as music shows and music awards. Jennie actually has many friends but she rarely shows off about them on SNS. In addition, BLACKPINK’s Lisa and GOT7’s BamBam are childhood friends so it’s easy to understand why the members of the two groups are close to each other.

Regarding Jennie and Yugyeom, their fans speculated that the two have known each other for a long time because they have WOODZ as their mutual friends. Jennie attended WOODZ’s recent concert. The BLACKPINK rapper even made headlines with the cute moment when she helped WOODZ and cameramen focus on Yugyeom as he did a dance challenge.

Despite their close friendship, Jennie was absent from Yugyeom’s album listening party. Yugyeom invited over 30 celebrities, including his famous 97line friends. Among the guests, there were SEVENTEEN’s Mingyu, The8, Dokyeom, Vernon & Woozi, Song Kang, BamBam, Song Ha-yoon, NCT’s Jaehyun & Johnny, iKON’s DK, BTOB’s Peniel, Pentagon’s Hui & Kino, etc. 

Fans guessed that the reason Jennie couldn’t attend the listening party was because she was in the US. On February 16th, Jennie participated in the birthday party of The Weeknd in LA. While there are rumors that she was preparing for her solo album, the female singer caused a stir online with her photos with friends in the US.
