Why do netizens keep asking Nana’s agency about her tattoos?

It seems like the public are paying too much attention to Nana’s tattoos.

It is true that every move of celebrities, from announcements of dating and marriage, pregnancy, childbirth, dating photos to piercing, weight, body, fashion and tattoos, are closely watched by the public. However, too much attention can cause excessive interference in private life and too many worries and also result in unnecessary warnings.

Nana recently appeared at the production briefing press conference for the movie “Confession” on September 20th. As she attended the event as the lead cast, the movie she starred in should be the main character of the event. However, all the articles mentioning the event actually centered around Nana’s tattoos, not the movie “Confession”. The “full-body” tattoo of Nana, who showed up at the press conference wearing a tube-top mini dress, has been a hot issue since the event until now.

After Nana’s tattoos were revealed, people began to wonder if there was a change in her mind and raise speculations on the reason why she tattooed all over her body and whether they were real tattoos. The fact that related articles poured out eventually led to the funny situation in which even Nana’s agency had to release an official position clarifying, “It’s hard for us to respond because it belongs to the artist’s private life”.

At the production presentation for Netflix series “Glitch”, which was held on September 27th, a week later, Nana’s tattoos once again became hot topics. When asked about her tattoos, Nana said “I got the tattoos because I wanted to do it”, adding “If there is a chance, I want to tell you why I did it”.

Many stars, such as G-Dragon, Gong Hyo-jin, Park Jae-beom, BTS Jungkook, Hyuna, TWICE Chaeyoung, Baek Ye-rin, etc., also had tattoos. But reactions from the public to them were not as hot as the issue this time. Knowing the fact that an actress suddenly appeared with a lot of tattoos could be a reason for the public interest, it is hard to understand why people keep on asking “Why did she do that?”. Even if tattoos interfere with the actress’s character transformation or filming, she can easily get them covered up with makeup. It doesn’t cause any problem as long as she acts well and has a good personality as a celebrity.

Actor Cha Seung-won tattooed his daughter’s baptismal name on his body. However, the tattoo did not make him look any different from the characters in his works, so it actually appeared on the screen several times. When Cha Seung-won played ordinary middle-aged men in works, such as “Our Blues” and “Sinkhole”, he covered the tattoo by wearing long-sleeved outfits. This proves that tattooing is not a problem if the actor acts well.

No matter how big the tattoos are, that’s the celebrities’ personal freedom. Whether the modifier “tattoo” follows them like a tag or their choice of roles would be narrowed down, it’s up to the artists themselves. Therefore, it is not understandable why many netizens are asking “Why did she get tattoos?” and asking her agency to explain through an “official position”.
