“Where my new life began”, NewJeans when described Seoul 

Famous girl group NewJeans recently become the first Kpop artist to decorate the cover of Japanese fashion magazine “Popeye”.

Recently, NewJeans members (Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin and Hyein) showcased a youthful and fresh charm with a simple and natural style in the special edition of the July issue of Japanese magazine “Popeye”. As the first Kpop artist to adorn the cover of “Popeye”, NewJeans tackles on the theme of “SEOUL CITY GUIDE”.

During the photo shoot and interview, NewJeans discussed their thoughts on Seoul. Here, Hanni, a foreign member, introduced Seoul as “the place where my new life began”. Meanwhile, Danielle, another who came from overseas, described Seoul as “a city where I debuted and achieved many experiences and dreams.”

When asked about their goals, Minji replied, “To always strive without losing our initial intentions,” while Hyein expressed her desire to “continue the joy of discovering new aspects of myself.” 

To the same question, Haerin stated, “I will continue to make efforts to show a great image in the future.”

Meanwhile, despite not yet officially debuting in Japan, NewJeans achieved the top spot on Oricon’s weekly combined ranking with a Korean album (the single album “OMG”). They have also received a tremendous response with over 100 million streams on Oricon for the single “Ditto”, making them the fastest foreign female artist to reach such a milestone.
