Netflix’s global sensation Wednesday has officially been renewed for Season 3, igniting excitement among fans just ahead of the upcoming Season 2 Part 1, which premieres on August 6.
Starring Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams, the gothic teen drama follows her return to Nevermore Academy as she confronts even darker and more twisted mysteries. The series, known for its blend of horror and quirky fantasy under Tim Burton‘s direction, became a worldwide phenomenon, breaking records with over 1.7 billion hours watched and ranking No. 1 in Netflix’s Global Top 10 TV (English) category.
Building momentum for Season 2, director Tim Burton, along with lead stars Jenna Ortega and Emma Myers, have announced an international promotional tour, including stops in Korea, the UK, Poland, Italy, France, Romania, the US, Canada, and Australia. In Korea, a fan event themed as a “Nevermore Academy Entrance Ceremony” will be held at Yeongdeungpo Times Square, followed by a GV program titled “Wednesday 101” at Ewha Womans University on August 11.
Executive producers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar expressed their excitement about the Season 3 renewal, stating, “We’re thrilled that Wednesday will be roaming the halls of Nevermore Academy once more in Season 3.” They also hinted that Season 3 will delve even deeper into the dark secrets of Nevermore Academy and unveil new stories related to the Addams Family’s ancestral graveyard—hinting at an expanded universe filled with even more mystery than before.
Just two weeks before the Season 2 premiere, Netflix has officially announced that Season 3 is in the works. The streaming giant stated, “While preparing Season 2, we’re also fast-tracking the planning and production of Season 3,” revealing their strong confidence in the series.
Season 2 is set to premiere globally on Netflix on August 6 with Part 1. Wednesday returns to Nevermore Academy to face even darker and stranger mysteries. The new season will feature additional characters and settings, promising a more evolved narrative. Notably, the direction of the show is shifting its focus away from romance and toward horror and suspense, which is expected to appeal to both long-time fans and new viewers.
Jenna Ortega herself emphasized this change, saying:
“This season focuses less on romance and more on the internal journey, fear, and tension of the character. We’re going deeper into the dark and bold essence of Wednesday.”
With fresh characters and evolving storylines teased for Season 2, fans are already buzzing about what creative and spooky surprises lie ahead in Season 3.
