Tensions escalated on July 24 during the third court hearing in the ongoing legal battle between ADOR and NewJeans, as the group’s legal team fiercely objected to former CEO Min Hee-jin’s alleged attempt to “take” the group.

The hearing was held at the Seoul Central District Court under Civil Agreement Division 41, presided by Judge Jeong Hoe-il. It concerns the lawsuit filed by ADOR seeking confirmation of the validity of their exclusive contracts with NewJeans members Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein.

During the proceedings, both sides delivered 30-minute presentations to argue their positions. Ahead of the formal statements, NewJeans’ legal representatives requested the court not to mention illegally obtained evidence during open sessions, even if submitted to the bench.

Despite the court initially agreeing, ADOR’s legal team referenced a KakaoTalk message reportedly exchanged between Min Hee-jin and an acquaintance, in which she allegedly said, “I’m taking them [NewJeans] in 3 years.” This prompted NewJeans’ lawyers to protest, claiming ADOR was deliberately using sensitive material in open court despite prior warnings.

Judge Jeong dismissed the protests, stating, “Even I know about it, so do you think reporters wouldn’t?” and admonished NewJeans’ lawyers for interrupting the proceedings, saying, “These claims about a takeover have already been heard. Please refrain from further outbursts.”

This court clash comes amid ADOR’s lawsuit following NewJeans’ announcement in November last year to terminate their contracts, citing a breakdown in trust with both ADOR and HYBE. While ADOR has indicated a willingness to settle, NewJeans has repeatedly rejected any reconciliation, saying, “There is no going back. The trust is completely broken.”

As the court drama continues to unfold, public interest in the power struggle between NewJeans and ADOR remains high, with no signs of resolution yet in sight.
