Waterbomb Osaka staff died after being hit by water shot at 120km/h, resulting in show cancellation 

The Waterbomb festival in Osaka was reportedly canceled as a male staff died in a serious accident during rehearsals.

On July 14th, local media outlets, including TV Asahi, reported that the Waterbomb music festival in Osaka, Japan had been canceled due to the accident caused by the malfunction of the water spray device during rehearsals.

According to articles, the local fire authority received a report at 11 a.m. that “a male staff member fell unconscious after having a serious injury in his face”.

The injured person was a 40-year-old male staff member who was directly hit in the face by strong water that shot out from a water spray device called “water cannon” while checking it. It is known that a water cannon can spray water at a speed of up to 120 km per hour.

The staff was immediately hospitalized in an unconscious state but eventually died of brain injury. Due to the serious accident, Waterbomb organizer decided to cancel Osaka show, which was originally planned to be held for two days on the 15th and 16th of July.

The police are investigating the incident in detail, taking into consideration the possibility of professional negligence.

Various Korean artists, including Jay Park, 2PM Nichkhun & Jun.K, MAMAMOO, Kwon Eun Bi, etc., were scheduled to perform at the 2023 Waterbomb festival in Osaka.
