Was BLACKPINK Members’ Announcement of Their Own Companies Coordinated 7 Years in Advance?

Fans are questioning whether BLACKPINK's announcement of their separate companies was entirely deliberate

Less than two months after YG confirmed that BLACKPINK wouldn’t renew their individual contracts, three out of four members—Jennie, Lisa, and Jisoo—have each revealed the establishment of their own companies.

However, the timing of the members’ announcements has caught netizens off guard, perfectly aligning with the order in which YG introduced BLACKPINK’s members since their debut in 2016.

To be specific, on June 1, 2016, YG unveiled Jennie as the first member of BLACKPINK. She joined YG Entertainment as a trainee in 2010 after returning to Korea from New Zealand.

Then on June 8, 2016, YG introduced Lisa as the group’s second member. Lisa had already made a strong impression in the “Who’s That Girl?” video posted by YG on YouTube in 2012.

Subsequently, on June 15, 2016, YG disclosed Jisoo as the third member. She became a trainee at YG Entertainment in July 2011.

Finally, on June 22, 2016, Rosé was revealed as the last member. She had stood out among 700 candidates who auditioned for YG Entertainment in Australia in 2012, signing a contract with the company and moving to Seoul in April to begin her training.

The coincidence in timing has led fans to speculate that BLACKPINK may have discussed amongst themselves the timing of announcing their respective companies. So far, only Rosé remains undisclosed regarding her own plans.

According to various sources, it’s highly likely that Rosé will be the last member to announce her company, either in the last week of February or the first week of March. Earlier reports from Korean media also hinted that Rosé would follow suit and announce her company soon.
