VIVIZ member SinB followed the SNS account of the late idol singer Moonbin, who had been her best friend for 18 years.
SinB reportedly followed ASTRO Moonbin’s Instagram account on April 21st.
Before that, SinB only followed the accounts of GFRIEND members, including Sowon, Yerin, Yuju, Eunha, and Umji. However, after Moonbin passed away, she added the account of the deceased to her following list.
Born in 1998, SinB is a close same-age friend of Moonbin. The two were said to have learned dancing together when they were young in Cheongju, Chungcheongbuk-do. They debuted around the same time and shared various moments while carrying out entertainment activities.
Earlier in February, Moonbin mentioned his special friendship with SinB in an interview with GQ Korea. At that time, he said, “I’ve known SinB since we were 8 years old, so when she debuted as a member of GFRIEND, I found it so amazing.” When asked when he missed his friends the most, Moonbin replied, “I miss EunBi (SinB’s real name) sometimes. I don’t really want to see her, but…” Hearing that, member Sanha commented, “They’re real ‘besties’.”
After the news of Moonbin’s passing was reported, netizens raised concerns over Moonbin’s best friend SinB and fans also poured out worries in the comments section of her posts. As a result, SinB temporarily turned off the comment function on her account on the 20th.
Another ‘98line’ friend – SEVENTEEN member Seungkwan also followed Moonbin’s SNS account after his passing.
Meanwhile, Moonbin was found dead at his residence in Gangnam-gu, Seoul at 8:10 p.m. on the 19th. The police assumed that Moonbin made an extreme choice and are investigating the exact cause of his death. ASTRO’s agency Fantagio released an official statement on the 20th, saying “Moonbin suddenly left us and became a star in the sky”, adding “ASTRO members who have been with him for a long time, as well as our fellow artists and staff at Fantagio, are deeply mourning and grieving for the deceased in great sorrow and shock.”
The deceased’s mortuary was set up at the funeral of Asan Hospital in Seoul. His funeral will be held on the 22nd.
