“Useless Lies” unveils script reading still cuts, hinting at Hwang Min Hyun & Kim So Hyun’s exciting romance
Kim So Hyun and Hwang Min Hyun will act together in tvN’s new drama “Useless Lies”.
On May 24th, tvN’s new Mon-Tue drama “Useless Lies” revealed photos taken at the script reading, stimulating viewers’ excitement from the start.
“Useless Lies” depicts a romance between a liar hunter (Kim So Hyun), who can’t trust anyone due to her ability to hear lies, and a genius composer (Hwang Min Hyun) who hides his identity. A sweet romance together with a thrilling mystery unfolds on top of a realistic fantasy, creating a unique romantic comedy. Director Nam Sung Woo, who has proved his pleasant and sensuous directing skills through “My Roommate Is a Gumiho”, “Love in Contract” and “Kkondae Intern”, took the megaphone for this project, while writer Seo Jung Eun was in charge of the script.
Kim So Hyun, Hwang Min Hyun, Yoon Ji On, Seo Ji Hoon, Lee Si Woo, Ha Jong Woo, Park Kyung Hye, Song Jin Woo, and Cho Jin Se performed their lines thoroughly on the script reading day. First, Kim So Hyun drew attention as she completely immersed herself in ‘liar hunter’ Mok Sol Hee, who can hear lies. She skillfully unfolds the dynamic narrative of Mok Sol Hee, who grew up hearing all sorts of lies and eventually finds herself in cynical and and hard-to-believe situations. Kim So Hyun shared, “I was very curious about the introduction that Mok Sol Hee can’t trust anyone due to her ability to hear lies. I believed that I could show viewers a new side of me if I portrayed this character in an attractive way”, signaling a change in her acting transformation.
Hwang Min Hyun took on the role of Kim Do Ha, a star composer with a secret that he cant’s disclose. Introverted loner Kim Do Ha lives his life as a composer who hides his face for some unknown reasons. Hwang Min Hyun delicately expresses the intriguing and mysterious image of Kim Do Ha, raising viewers’ anticipation. In particular, he is expected to show the process of Kim Do Ha changing after getting intertwined with Mok Sol Hee, a strange woman next door. Hwang Min Hyun said, “I enjoyed reading the script so much when I first received it. It’s my honor to join the project. I will prepare hard and show you my growth and acting improvements.”
Above all, the highly anticipated meeting of Kim So Hyun and Hwang Min Hyun with perfect chemistry was seen during the script reading. As Mok Sol Hee, who has lost her faith in humans, and Kim Do Ha, a man who stubbornly refuses to lie, they created a unique and dynamic combination. Another interesting point about this drama is the two’s bickering moments, which add more fun to their special relationship and narratives.
Meanwhile, “Useless Lies” will premiere in July.
