Actor Song Joong Ki expressed his feelings about entering Cannes for the first time in his life.
Song Joong Ki had an interview regarding the movie “Hopeless”, which was selected to compete in the Un Certain Regard section at the 76th Cannes Film Festival, on the morning of May 23rd (local time).
To the reporter’s remark “There’s a lot of good news recently“, Song Joong Ki smilingly said, “A lot of good things will happen in the future. To be honest, I’m very excited about Cannes, but my focus right now is on the baby being born. Cannes will be over quickly, then I have to go to my wife. Cannes is good, but I’m really grateful (to my wife).“
He added, “I thought I should live with a positive and grateful mind. Good things and big things happened to me, including Cannes. I’m trying not to get too excited since these good things came all at once.”
In January, Song Joong Ki registered her marriage and announced the pregnancy of his wife, former British actress Katy Louise Saunders. After that, he entered Cannes for the first time in his life with “Hopeless”.
“Hopeless” (directed by Kim Chang Hoon) is a noir drama that tells the story of Yeon Gyu, a boy who wants to escape from the hellish reality, after he met a gang’s middle boss, Chi Geon, and joined the dangerous world.
Song Joong Ki played the role of Chi Geon, and rookie Hong Sa Bin played the role of Yeon Gyu. Kim Hyung Seo, who is active as singer Bibi, played Yeon Gyu’s younger sister Ha Yan. It is the director’s feature film debut.
