The end of the year is approaching and the weather is getting colder, but the heat of online streaming war is getting hotter
At the end of the year, each OTT platform is preparing to unveil a variety of powerful productions.
On October 20th, Netflix will release their original drama “Lee Doo-na!” starring Suzy and Yang Se-jong. It is a romance drama about Won-jun, a normal college student, meets Doo-na, a retired idol who leaves her K-pop idol life behind.
Season 2 of “Sweet Home,” Netflix’s most popular K-drama before the release of “Squid Game,” is also reportedly set to be released within this year. In Season 1, it depicts the struggles of characters who left Green Home. As the previous work has produced a huge fan base, global success is expected again this time.
“Gyeongseong Creature,” a historical drama starring Park Seo-joon and Han So-hee, will also be released within this year. Even before its release, the production of Season 2 has been confirmed, raising high expectations from fans.
The original movie ‘Ballerina’ starring Jeon Jong-seo will be released on October 6th. It is a thriller, noir, and revenge movie where the protagonist who discovers the death of his dear friend takes revenge.
Disney+, which made a big hit with “Moving,” is also about to release its fourth-quarter masterpieces. Disney+, which is releasing “Han River Police” after the end of “Moving,” also unveiled the crime action thriller “The Worst of Evil” starring Ji Chang-wook and Wi Ha-joon on September 27th. Set in 1995, it tells the story of police destroying drug organizations in three countries: Korea, China and Japan.
Disney+ will also release the series “Vigilante” based on the popular webtoon of the same name on November 8th. Nam Joo-hyuk and Yoo Ji-tae are drawing attention as its cast, and they have been invited to the “On Screen” section of the Busan International Film Festival. It is an action thriller in which Kim Ji-yong is a model police student but lives as a vigilante at night to avoid the law, and people with different purposes gather and confront each other.
