The following is our interview with actress Ok Ja Yeon.

  • What is the part that you paid attention to the most when playing Royal Consort Hwang?

Hwang Gwi In was chosen to enter the palace when she was a child, and she was a character with a lot of sorrow and loneliness. I think I filmed a romance movie all by myself imagining what it would have been like when I first met a person who treats me humanely and sincerely, what it would have been like when I had a child, and the whole process.

  • Your relationship with physician Kwon was interesting.

I looked forward to everyone’s reaction to the physician Kwon’s episode. It was a powerful twist. I also learned about his exact identity only in the middle of the filming. It was fun to imagine the story of those two people. In the last episode, the scenes I did with Kim Jae Beom, who plays physician Kwon, are very memorable to me. I hope our family’s sadness has been conveyed to the viewers.

The atmosphere on the filming scene of “Under The Queen’s Umbrella” was very good. I was grateful throughout the filming thanks to director Kim Hyung-sik, actress Kim Hye Soo who always tries to harmonize with everyone on the scene, my respected seniors, and good staff.

In particular, when I was with Kim Hye Soo, I felt a lot of her delicate emotions, charisma, and power. I want to learn from her as a junior. I was grateful that I was lucky enough to work with seniors such as Kim Hae Sook, Kim Hye Soo, and Kim Eui Sung. I learned a lot about the actor’s attitudes as well as acting. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Q: How was your chemistry with Kang Chan Hee?

I had a lot of fun with Chan Hee, who I met as my son. We discussed our scenes together a lot while filming. He is very serious about acting, and has done a lot of research. I’m already looking forward to his next work.
